A fun memory game to play with small groups of children or the whole class. Links to thinking skills and speaking and listening as well as memory. The instructions are on page one. Page 2 shows 15 colour picnic cards. How to Play Cut and laminate the picnic cards. Have a basket or bag at the front of the class. Children sit in a circle. Each child chooses a card showing something to take on a picnic. The first player says a sentence e.g. ‘I took a can of cola on my picnic’ and then puts the card into the basket. The second player says a sentence e.g. ‘ I took an apple on my picnic’ but must then add what the previous player put in the basket e.g. ‘and Johnny took a can of cola on his picnic’. Keep going round the circle until each player has had their turn. There are ideas included for differentiating including a picture board as a visual aid.
